Base – Line Survey on Drought Mitigation Plan in Ampara
This time than ever before, Ampara sustains impact of unexpected weather condition causing drought up to 38-39 Celsius heat. As the Governmental and Non Governmental Organizations had been engaging with Tsunami rebuilding activities for 05 years continuously, mitigation measure can hardly been seen in the district.
Presently, DDMCU in Ampara has seriously been involving in the preparation of district plan for drought and flood which frequently affect the district in annual interval.
Divisional Base-line survey conducted in Damana D.S. division
Now DDMCU has identified 11 D.S. divisions (118 G,N divisions) out of 20 D.S divisions in the district as the most vulnerable to annual drought.
Towards a complete drought mitigation plan for the district, DDMCU in Ampara has initiated its base-line survey on the disaster in coordination and support of sectoral departments and local governments.
